2022
A new artistic intervention was inaugurated in March 2022 on the outskirts of the Universidad Católica Metro and the west exit of the GAM by the urban artist Anis. With almost 400 m², the mural is a gift to citizens and seeks to make gender equality and care for the environment visible.
The initiative, called “La plaza de todos”, was designed for the community by Lira Arte Público in alliance with Reebok along with the support of Metro de Santiago and GAM.
The work is an urban intervention carried out by the national artist Jocelyn Aracena, also known as Anis, one of the most important exponents of urban painting in Chile and who seeks to raise awareness of feminine issues at a social and cultural level under a positive perspective that manages to generate changes.
“I was inspired by the poem Give me your hand and we will dance by Gabriela Mistral, which talks about dance and also about the union of women so that they generate a single movement. Women dressed as flowers are represented dancing towards consciousness, located on the central wall of the subway, calling for reflection on our own actions. One of the most present flowers is the añañuca, native to the Chilean desert, which represents absence and presence, and which according to legend, has a very magical and memory connotation.”

The intervention, which crosses art and sustainability, is developed with Photio, an innovative Chilean nanotechnology that is incorporated into the paint, acting as an air purifier that performs a cleaning similar to the decontaminating action of 600 adult trees. The artist's work, which is titled “A Single Flower”, has as its main axis the movement represented by dance and consciousness, and uses a color palette loaded towards violets to represent feminism.
