Juan Egenau

Juan Egenau's work is characterized by his work with the human figure and molten metal. For the UNCTAD III building he created a piece that changed the medium-sized sculpture on a pedestal for a functional sculptural object: a door.
Originally the piece was the western entrance through Alameda of the UNCTAD III building, which overlooked the conference rooms. With the passage of time, and due to its permanence outside, it has been necessary to clean it completely and replace some parts.

Sculptor
His works are part of the collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts and several other museums.
In the beginning, Egenau worked in the techniques of enamel on metals and engraving, but after his meeting with the sculptor Marta Colvin, his artistic vocation was passionately devoted to the area of expression in volume.
He held several individual exhibitions both in Chile and other countries. Egenau won the First Prize for Sculpture at the LXXIV Official Salon of Santiago in 1963, the First Prize at the III Sculpture Biennial in 1967, the University of Chile Grand Prize for Sculpture at the Chilean National Contest of Plastic Arts in 1976 and the Grand Prize at the Valparaíso International Art Biennial in 1979.
