Ramón López together with Bernardo Trumper were in charge of the design of eight sets of lamps that were in different spaces of the original building.

Architect and theater designer
He is the current Technical Director of Theater at the Catholic University of Chile. For three periods he has been the director of the Theater School of the same university. In 1970 he began his academic activity as a professor of Theater Design at the Theater Schools of the Universidad de Chile and Universidad Católica. In 1974-1975 he traveled to England with a scholarship awarded by the British Council for postgraduate studies in scenography, lighting and costumes at the English National Opera.
Since 1967 he has worked as a set designer and lighting designer for university, independent, ballet, opera and television theatres. Between 1994 and 1996 he was President of CETT - OISTAT, a corporation that brings together set designers, architects and theater technicians from Chile, achieving in 1995, an outstanding participation of the Chilean pavilion in the Prague Scenographic Quadrennial.
In March 1980 he won first prize in the scenography competition for the opera “Los Puritanos” by Bellini, the first opera work for the lyrical season of the Municipal Theater of Santiago. Subsequently, he developed the set and lighting designs for countless operas and ballets.
His main concern in the field of design has been the permanent search for his own language in the means of expression of the stage space. His progressive interest in synthesis and expressive austerity makes him increasingly support scenic virtuality, making lighting the fundamental element of his scenographic proposals. It thus leads to a dynamic relationship between the performer and the surrounding symbolic-dramatic space, without abandoning some elements of realism.
At the same time, as an architect, he developed his specialty as a theater and lighting consultant in various projects of national and international importance, integrating, in 1991, the winning team of the architectural competition for the transformation of Mapocho Station into a Cultural Center for Santiago.
In 1998, he joined the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts of the Institute of Chile as a full member.
