It is a declaration of humanity's will to be. Through this work the artist offers to the future the magnificence of a kind, welcoming, simple, sober society, but generous in its dedication. It was originally located in the delegates' lounge of the UNCTAD III building. This new work was carried out during the year 2023 and 2024 by the artist's disciple. The original work from 1972 has been missing since the coup d'état in 1973. It was possibly destroyed.

This painting is made based on the original sketches of Mario Carreño by his disciple Juan Campos. The sketch of this work was presented in the Unctad III building. This is the definitive work as Mario Carreño thought of it.
Campos began his work as Carreño's assistant precisely with this work and when the artist was offered to exhibit at UNCTAD: "For me it was a privilege when he invited me to participate in this important national event, it was a venue that was going to be for everyone. Coming to see this building was like going to Versailles. A modern Versailles, a building that was always promised for all people. And now that same promise makes us rebuild this look," says Juan Campos.
"I was about 4 years old and I remember looking at the counters where the mural was being drawn. My father was very careful, he made the sketches until they were impeccable and were full of color and notes. We as a foundation are very happy to be able to fulfill my father's dream, that the work would have remained here, that it would be done with the color he wanted, just as he imagined it," Mariana Carreño, the painter's daughter.
"The work of art is the same as living beings, they also suffered the same thing that the people suffered, they were disappeared. The work will continue to live, that is the most important thing and that makes me happy, since I have done something important, something that was promised and that was stolen," Campos reflects.

(1913 - 1999)
Mario Carreño (Havana, Cuba 1913 - Santiago de Chile 1999) lived in France, the United States, Cuba and since 1958 in Chile where he received nationality in 1969. Together with other artists and architects he founded the Art School of the Catholic University in 1959. In 1982 he received the National Art Prize.
