Gabriela Mistral has been present not only in the name of the institution, but in artistic programming over the years in all disciplines of performing and visual arts. This multifaceted poet, always alive and in constant construction and deconstruction, has been taken up by various artists throughout the first decade of GAM's existence.

Battle of simplicity

2013: Assembly of the La Ronca company, built from poetic and narrative texts by Mistral. The piece directed by Carina Dávila seeks to highlight elements of the author's creation and intellectual relevance.

The things I never had

2015: Theatrical concert that presents a selection of fragments of his poems and letters. The work directed by Elvira López Alfonso seeks to rescue the complexity of the author.

Infinite Gabriela (or the country of absence)

2015: An international approach to Mistral came with this Argentine work by María Marta Guitart, a selection of poems and prose by the poet that covers recurring topics in her work.

2019: GAM production that imagines that the writer is kidnapped when she finds out that she won the Nobel Prize. This fantasy written by Andrés Kalawski and directed by Aliocha de la Sotta attempts to present the conflicts that crossed her and their intellectual and political importance.

2024: Marcelo Alonso narrates the obsession of a teacher from the city of Vicuña with the figure of Gabriela Mistral's adopted son, Yin Yin. Directed by Cristián Plana.

The dancer

2015: Choreographer Paulina Mellado was inspired by The Dancer and other poems by Mistral, to create this contemporary dance piece that presents through its performers eight incarnations of the Nobel Prize winner.

Knitting Lucilla

2015: An exhibition with six wool models that recreate significant scenes from the life of Mistral, woven by Macarena Ahumada.

spring of youth

2017: For this exhibition, Caiozzama made a stencil triptych that, in the figure of Mistral, depicted the history of the building that today houses GAM. The work evoked in the image of the poet the present of the construction as a cultural center and its role in the government of Salvador Allende and in the military dictatorship.

II GAM Education Seminar: Gabriela Mistral, education for all /2019: Meeting dedicated to Mistral's pedagogical thought, with exponents specialized in this aspect of her work.

Theater and music for Mistral /2024: Three actresses (Anita Reeves, Luz Jiménez and Mónica Carrasco) read their poems and letters, while a version in dramatized reading format brings back the GAM production "Mistral, Gabriela (1945)".
