“A crochet ninja,” is how theater designer Macarena Ahumada defines herself, who exhibits her wool sculptures about Gabriela Mistral at GAM.
The exhibition reviews the poet's life in six wool models that recreate significant scenes from her career. Her childhood, her work as a teacher, her travels, her family and even the awarding of the Nobel Prize, are part of this brief visual chronology.
The public will encounter these scenes that are in themselves small "sets", independent and complementary to each other, with small-scale sculptures of objects and the protagonist.
At the same time, a photograph is exhibited that rescues some essential detail of said scene. In this way the exhibition combines plastic arts, crafts and photography as artistic languages at the intersection, where the viewer transits between those languages, enjoying them and discovering new readings.
