Shakespeare 400
Commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of the English playwright William Shakespeare, GAM carried out special activities, from artistic theater programming, film cycles, to an installation in the central square and a graphic and audiovisual campaign.
Shakespeare Installation
In a corner of the central plaza of the GAM, a large sphere, made with illuminated cardboard circles, was installed to attract the public and bring them closer to the figure of William Shakespeare who died in 1616.
The circles that form the installation contain facts about his life, anecdotal data, reflections on his work and quotes from his most recognized works such as Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth and Hamlet.
The assembly, made of cardboard and iron, was organized by the cultural center together with "El Mercurio", contains 46 circles with light and measures 3 meters wide x 4 meters high. It was seen and enjoyed by more than 450,000 people for four months.
“Keeping something that helps me remember you would be admitting that I can forget you.”

To be or not to be
Another action to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare was a video, where different characters from the theater were invited to read the phrase “To be or not to be, that is the question” in front of a camera. There were more than 15 faces that participated in this invitation, among which were Claudia di Girolamo, Juan Radrigán, Carmina Riego, Mario Horton, Ximena Rivas, Bastián Bodenhofer, among others.
In artistic programming, important works inspired by the English playwright were presented, as well as various workshops.
winter holidays
Every year, GAM offers family programming in July, for the winter holidays and for hosting FAMFEST. In 2016, a campaign was devised around this theme that involved animating a series of toys and placing them on photographs of the building under the slogan “children take GAM.” The campaign was well received and generated varied comments.

It's dance and your body knows it
This campaign aimed to commemorate the milestone of 50 years since the history of independent dance began in Chile. It is presented as a video showing different types of feet dancing, at different rhythms and with popular cumbia music, appealing to the concept that dance does not need explanations: just feel it and dance it.
