GAM receives a new cycle to appreciate baroque music as a living art that surprises, excites and dialogues with diverse audiences and the city. An event of three concerts on six dates, which will allow you to discover and get closer to this musical style from the heart of contemporary cultural activity.
The famous score by Johann Sebastian Bach, originally written for harpsichord, comes to GAM with a formation that incorporates various string instruments in trio format.
This musical composition has a particular history: Count Keyserlingk, a Russian diplomat at the Saxon court, sheltered the young Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, a talented harpsichordist and student of Bach, in his castle as a protégé. On one occasion the nobleman expressed to the teacher his wish that he would write some harpsichord pieces for his pupil, so that he could entertain him during his sleepless nights. Bach's gift to the count is known today as the Goldberg Variations. "Dear Goldberg, play one of my variations" -said Count Keyserlingk, to Bach's student on those long nights-. Bach left him an unfathomable and sublime work, and when the count gave him a cup with 100 louis d'or, he did not pay Bach even a thousandth of its value, the one that humanity will enjoy today and forever.
