Circulation
Since 2017, GAM has sought to enhance its role in national and international culture by developing projects so that artistic creations, mediation methodologies and knowledge transfer processes can open and circulate to different communes of the Metropolitan Region, to regions of the country, and to different countries. The objective is to expand access to culture, contribute to decentralization and highlight national creation.
In 2017, this effort allowed 59 performing arts performances to be held that were seen by 19,119 spectators in eight regions of the country, covering 21 different communes. In 2018, GAM's works reached Peru and Costa Rica, and within the country they were in nine regions, also considering the Metropolitan, covering a total of 18 communes. During 2019, GAM's artistic programming and knowledge transfers reached Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Colombia; and within the country, to five regions, considering the Metropolitan, where they cover eleven communes.
During these years, some productions and co-productions left GAM to be presented in regions and abroad, such as the dance montage La noche obstinada, Malen, Paisajes para no coloring, Radiotanda and Xuárez and, the works for early childhood, Danzas aadas and Luciérnagas.
From 2020 to 2022, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, circulation of works, workshops and knowledge transfer via digital media were implemented. In 2020, 62 circulation functions were carried out: 41 in-person in the context of the GAM 10-year Cycle and 21 digital, which registered 73,665 connections. In 2021, 13 international presentations were made (6 in person - 7 digital) and 55 national presentations (28 in person - 27 digital). In 2022, the last year of the pandemic, there were a total of 52 hybrid-type functions with more than 63,234, 76.9% of the functions were carried out in person and the remaining 23.1% in digital mode (15.4% in streaming mode and 7.7% on demand).
In these years, digital activities reached countries such as Argentina, Portugal, India, Mexico and Colombia. The digital broadcasts of The Incredible Translator of Dr. Melina Melinao by NTV throughout the national territory reached 51,750 viewers, while La Pérgola de las Flores, with subtitles in Spanish, Mapudungun and a version with Chilean sign language, was seen by 1,235,891 people.
In 2023 and 2024, with the return to presence, GAM has strengthened the national and international circulation of its productions and co-productions, highlighting La pérgola de las floresat the Teatro de Las Condes; Mistral, Gabriela (1945) at the International Festival of Manizales and Medellín, Colombia; María Isabel in the Sala Verdi in Montevideo, Uruguay; The Asylum against Oppression at the Biobio Theater in Concepción, and The Possibility of Tenderness which premiered at the Ruhrtriennale Festival in Bochum (Germany).
Some of the works that have come out of GAM to be presented in regions and abroad are the dance productions La noche obstinada, Malen, and, for early childhood, Winged Dances and Luciérflies; along with plays such as Breath, Amores de cantina, Helping him to feel, In flight there is no farewell, The heart of the selfish giant, This (not) is a testament, Drunken ghosts, Hedda Gabler, The pergola of the Flores, The widow of Apablaza, The repentants, Mistral, Gabriela (1945); Landscapes not to color, Paranoia, Pescador, Radiotanda-GAM, Xuárez, The possibility of tenderness, María Isabel, Asylum against oppression, among others.
Another Circulation project focused on artistic mediation was Constituent Mail by the GAM Hearings team (2022) aimed at valuing the participation of girls, boys and young people in the constitutional discussion process. Students from seventh grade to fourth grade, aged between 12 and 17, from five regions of Chile participated in this project: Arica, Santiago, Villarrica, Chiloé and Coyhaique.
