A red poyo

A red poyo takes the tension that precedes the first kiss, intensifies it in the lonely, sweaty, lightly clad environment of a sports locker room and extends it for an hour. There two men with well-built bodies look at each other out of the corner of their eye while they move to dazzle the other. Competitiveness and attraction galore in a challenge that unites dance, physical theater, sport, sexuality and humor.

The work directed by Hermes Gaido arrives in Chile after almost 10 years of success in Argentina and years of touring more than 10 countries in Europe and America. “In each scene, the performers stand out expressiveness and talent,” published the trans-Andean newspaper Página 12.

The montage created by Nicolás Poggi and Luciano Rosso humorously portrays the uncertainty, clumsiness and violence of desire through a strong work of body language. The title alludes to cockfights, a recognizable quote in parts of the creation that also cites different styles of dance, from breakdancing to voguing.

On stage there is only a bench, a locker, towels, bottles of water, a mirror and a radio. That radio serves to tune in to the musical moments of the play, although it mainly takes place in silence broken only by the sound of bodies.

The cast is made up of Rosso himself and Alfonso Barón, a dancer who already performed in 2013 at GAM with La idea fixa, by Pablo Rotemberg.
