The toy in popular art

This exhibition brings together pieces from Latin American countries such as Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Chile. In addition to toys belonging to the historical collection of the MAPA, there are others recently made by toy makers who continue to carry out their trade to this day. Among the great diversity of the collection, dolls, kites, gear toys, sound and rolling toys stand out.

The characteristic that distinguishes these objects is their popular roots, recognizable in the modest materials that their creator had on hand at the time of conceiving them and the simple modes of expression with which he has managed to entertain children and bring them closer to adult life.

The sample was proposed based on the FONDART research work carried out in 2016.
