An exhibition that covers the last decade of crafts in Chile through 78 award-winning pieces. Quality, technical and material diversity come together in this MAPA sample.
Goldsmithing, basketry, pottery, horsehair weaving, wood carvings, saddlery, metal, ox horn and stone objects. The Seal of Excellence for Craftsmanship has highlighted in its 10 years of existence pieces of varied materials and techniques, coming from all regions of the country. Now the Tomás Lago Museum of American Popular Art (MAPA) exhibits 78 of these award-winning objects.
The exhibition is a journey through a decade of creation. More than 60 artisans are behind these pieces that were highlighted for their excellence, authenticity, innovation, respect for the environment and marketable potential.
The award was created in 2008 by the Crafts Area of the National Council of Culture and the Arts (CNCA). Since 2012, MAPA has held annual exhibitions with the winners. And starting in 2014, the award-winning pieces are integrated into the collection of this museum dependent on the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile.
