Santiago: destination city

A flag made up of all the flags, except the Chilean one, flies in front of La Moneda. This video by Iván Navarro is part of Santiago: destination city, an exhibition that presents migratory movements as the central axis of social changes and the city as a meeting platform.

The exhibition curated by Rodrigo Tisi includes ten works, four of them selected by call, the German submission to the XV Venice Architecture Biennale, and research on census data and the German colonization of the south. In addition, conferences on migration will be held.

Janet Toro arrives with the video recording of a performance carried out in Germany. For 24 hours, the artist drew a line that seeks to be the horizon of the refugees. Bernardo Oyarzún updates Photo Album, a work created 20 years ago that portrays the migration from the countryside to the city from a personal perspective. Jorge Brantmayer shares a selection of images taken at a cell phone photography workshop for immigrants. gt2P exhibits pita objects created in a collaboration workshop between Chilean artisans and immigrants with crafts close to the manual. And ariztiaLAB presents audios and video resulting from an investigation into the sex work of immigrants in the center of Santiago.

By call, works were chosen that portray the migrant gastronomic advance in the Franklin neighborhood, that follow Chileans showing their city to foreigners, that share the voice of Haitian immigrants, and that teach Afro dancing to whoever wants.
