On August 19, “Photography Day” is commemorated worldwide, a date that has to do with the debut in society of the daguerreotype, the first known photographic process. And in Barrio Arte the entire month is celebrated with a large number of exhibitions and activities related to photography in various points of the Lastarria – Forestal perimeter.
It's aboutPassing & Pasando, a photo exchange game, which can be found in three spaces throughout August. The experience will begin at Ekho Gallery until the 17th, then moves to the Plaza Mulato del MAVI on the 18th and 19th; to finish in the GAM, from the 23rd to the 26th.
During the activity, the public will be able to bring their printed photos or print them at the meeting point. Two copies will be made there; one to hang and display, and another to enter the contest and win a prize at the end of the exchange game. The subject of the photos to be exchanged is free and the user can take another photograph on display for free.
On Sunday, August 26 at 5 p.m., there will be a grand closing in GAM's Central Plaza, with an installation exhibition of all the photographs collected throughout the month. The winners of the best photos will be contacted internally to collect their prizes that day between 5 and 7 p.m.
During Photography Month, countless exhibitions and activities can be found in the galleries, museums and cultural centers that integrate and collaborate with Barrio Arte.
Barrio Arte, together with the support of the Danish beer Tuborg, celebrates Photography Day throughout August with a dozen exhibitions in spaces such as GAM, MAVI, MNBA, MAC, Ekho Gallery, Galería Flach, Espacio O, Galería de Arte Posada del Corregidor and the Bellas Artes Metro Station.
