Two in one. Biomimetics: solutions inspired by nature and Fractals: the beautiful representation of chaos, are the two samples included in the exhibition Natural inspiration: science and technology in search of solutions, organized by GAM and Explora Conicyt RM Norte.
“Biomimetics: Solutions inspired by nature.” Through 12 plates, this exhibition addresses the different dimensions of this emerging discipline; from its definition, its importance, its advances and its areas of application, demonstrating the close connection it has with different areas of knowledge, such as physics, chemistry, medicine, architecture, music, literature and mathematics. The exhibition is made up of 6 modules, which include specific examples of research and initiatives that used nature as the main source of inspiration.
“Fractals: The beautiful representation of chaos.” Developed by PAR Explora RM Norte and the Faculty of Mathematics of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, this exhibition demonstrates, through 12 large-format images, the relationship between nature, art and mathematics. In the sample two main sources can be distinguished for the generation of these beautiful mathematical images; The first consists of the reliable representation of complex mathematical objects that give rise to interesting and moving images. The second part has to do with the explicit construction of images with a purely aesthetic objective, using modern mathematical tools such as fractal theory.
