From Tao to Zen

It is ink on fabric with abstract strokes inspired by oriental calligraphy that Roberto Hayashi marks in 6 large-format pieces and another 10 medium-sized ones. “This was a concern many years ago, but only five years ago did I understand that the only way to make this painting was to go to its origin, making the same strokes of Japanese calligraphy, without being calligraphy itself,” he explains.

The exhibition curated by Marcelo Soto Olhabé will open on July 10 with a tea ceremony and instrumental Zen music by the group Kokoro No Mai, formed by Francisco López, Jun Kuroda and Marcelo Mollinedo.
