What is contemporary art for you? This 2025 marks the 15th anniversary of the only international contemporary art fair in Chile. A great collaborative project that seeks to exchange experiences between our country and abroad, strengthening the creative industry in Chile and the region.
The Chile Contemporary Art Fair (Ch.ACO) has learned that beyond the works, artists and galleries, art is in the questions we ask ourselves in front of them: What is art for you? What would the world be like without art? Is art a luxury or a necessity? What makes us human if it is not art? Among many others.
In the last 15 years, this movement has transformed the Chilean artistic and cultural panorama. Today, it reinvents itself, reconfigures it, redesigns it, revolutionizes it; becoming the largest collaborative project in Chile.
This year at GAM Ch.ACO will offer a meeting space where more than 35 exhibitors will present themselves, with a main sector that includes international galleries from Peru, Argentina and Colombia and national ones that extend from Arica to Puerto Cisne, in addition to spaces dedicated to independent art collectives. The work of more than 200 artists, both established and emerging, will also be highlighted, who will redefine the cultural scene.
For its part, the Art Projects section, led by the curator and researcher, Mariano Sánchez, brings together independent workshops, spaces and collectives managed by different artists.
This space offers striking works and artistic installations and an alternative panorama of Chilean art. From the periphery, the center and the regions, it will exhibit self-managed, experimental and collaborative proposals. In them, the local dialogues with the global, the institutional is intertwined with the independent, trends update tradition.
In parallel, a section of artists will be presented, including 5 Chileans and 3 Argentines, led by curator Sergio Soto Maulén.
Finally, there will be a new design space “La Tienda Improbable”, which aims to exhibit innovative pieces created by Chilean designers, led by Juan Pablo Fuentes, designer and cultural advisor, director of Galería Aqueveque.
