Audiovisual and interactive installation by the filmmaker Marcela Said with the collaboration of the architect Cristián Valdés. A creation that invites us to reflect on gender violence and its discourses.
The case of Nabila Rifo, the cruelty of the attack in which her eyes were gouged out and the way she was treated in the media, shook filmmaker Marcela Said. After that, the director of El Mocito and Los Perros investigated cases of femicide in Latin America for months. From there, Eva was born, an installation that crosses documentary and fiction with architecture and experimental video, to reflect on gender violence and its discourses.
Said chose emblematic cases and wrote first-person accounts of the aggressor and the victim. For this purpose, he partly used the own words and images of those involved, traces that he collected on social networks and the press. The first-person horror that he built with them appears in Cristián Valdés' installation, a space that evokes two pieces of a house, a crime scene without bodies where the videos are projected.
Along with Eva, works by artists Liú Marino and María Gracia Donoso who also work on gender violence are exhibited.
A conversation about patterns of sexist education, university feminist movement and gender violence in Latin America. With the participation of Carla Bravo and María José Ordenes, coordinators of the UC Gender and Sexualities Secretariat. An activity associated with Eva, an audiovisual installation that reflects on gender violence and its discourses.
