More than 150 signature posters cover part of the history of 20th century design in this exhibition curated by Hernán Garfias. An exhibition that exhibits the work of almost twenty poster masters.
The Polish poster school went down in design history. Its aesthetic characteristics blurred the boundaries between painting and poster, while its content sought to stress the ruling communist regime, with metaphors that went beyond its original theme. One of the teachers of this school is Mieczyslaw Gorowski and his work is part of Collection Posters, an exhibition that covers the 20th century with more than 150 posters.
The exhibition curated by Hernán Garfias displays the work of almost 20 creators, with posters ranging from 1910 to 2000. Among them there are works by the Polish Gorowski, Majewski and Wasilewski; from the Germans Mendell & Oberer, by the Mexicans Magallanes and Farkas, and the collection of London Underground posters that includes works by Man Ray, and McKnight Kauffe, among others.
The styles are diverse. There is illustration, art nouveau, art deco, dadaism. Bauhaus, realism, abstraction and pop art, among others. The topics are also varied, from politics and sports, to tourism and arts. The exhibition is organized by AIEP and Diego Portales University, institutions that own the posters that make up this exhibition and that are exhibited together for the first time.
