What seemed like a normal day

Juan and Magdalena live together in an old apartment where they have everything they need to carry out their daily activities. However, and precisely, it is these objects and materialities that distract them, making them travel through dream worlds and dream scenarios. Bottles, pots, ladles and other elements – which, at first glance, have no major significance – come to life in the hands of the protagonists of the montage. Suddenly, we discover the strangeness of everyday life: behind objects and situations that seem “normal” hide a series of materialities and sound possibilities that will transport us to another dimension.

“What seemed like a normal day” is a contemporary circus art project of a multidisciplinary nature, which mixes music (with everyday objects), illustration and new technologies (mapping). The circus is present through the incorporation of manipulation of objects and work with bouncing balls that, in this context, are transformed into a true percussion instrument: they are thrown, percussed and bounced on different surfaces, generating countless different sounds.

The assembly raises a question about the value that, currently, we give to our private space. At what point do we follow our dreams? How does our thinking flow in solitude? "Through the staging of this intimate and everyday sphere, the project rescues the simple things, the details and those utopias that make our creativity flourish, allowing us to dream without censorship," says its director Juan Pablo Corvalán.

And he adds: "Home is the place where one feels most comfortable, where one gives free rein to one's imagination, where one creates and wanders without censorship. That is why we place the characters in that space. This is an invitation to imagine and dream freely. The utopia of freedom and the absence of limits."
