A citizen choir of 100 people along with five musicians perform emblematic songs by Violeta Parra in a musical theater play by the brothers Gopal and Visnu Ibarra.
It is the songs of Violeta Parra that weave this musical theater work written and directed by the brothers Gopal and Visnu Ibarra. Neither his biography nor a chronology structure the narrative. The story column is a selection of compositions among which are Let the students live, Absent Violet, The Gardener, How sorry the soul feels, What will the Holy Father say and Arauco has a sorrow.
The work seeks to rescue Violeta's spirit, building a dramaturgy guided by her own songs. Here Parra's voice multiplies. A choir of 100 people, between 8 and 80 years old, performs their compositions together with five musicians. But the character Violeta Parra is only played by girls from 8 to 12.
The Ibarra brothers have previously worked directing massive casts in the musical theater works Víctor sin Víctor Jara and Numancia, both premiered at GAM. Since 2015 they have worked on training citizen choirs in Santiago, Chillán and Valparaíso.
