Ana and Leo are two friends who live together. Ana has the impression of being outside her own body and begins to have dreams in which she is another person and wants to say something to her. Laura, Leo's sister, appears and Ana thinks she is the woman of her dream. Laura, on the other hand, suffers from a personality disorder that prevents her from telling the truth and that is why she strives to speak as little as possible. Inside her lives “the voice”, a kind of double that at times takes control of her thoughts and little by little will try to take over the minds of others.

Verbatim is an experimental exercise on what that word means: the exact reproduction of a sentence, phrase or quote from one source to another. The project seeks ideas, aesthetics and languages ​​that explore the human body and its possibilities of synchronization and desynchronization of the voice.

Three performers on stage, Natalia Valladares, María Siebald and Daniel Marabolí, will sit in a living room of a house and sometimes in the snow, becoming an echo of themselves.

Muriel Miranda devised this work while studying a master's degree in visual arts four years ago. "I started to think about what happens if I put an impersonated conversation on an image. Then I thought about the body and voice as dissociated entities just like old films were, uniting their parts in post-production. Together with Gonzalo Aguirre we carried out exhaustive research on this transfer and on references that involve lipsync in their processes," says the director.

Who is the original and who is the copy? Whose voice is this? What do they have to tell us? They are part of the questions posed by the work, which dialogues with the fantastic or esoteric and with humor and suspense. The work seeks to delve into the union of voice and body fragments, which produces suspicion, chaos and repetition, the plagiarism of a voice that is reproduced like an echo in time and space.

"The work is an opening, an invitation to see and listen, together and separately. To sharpen the senses. The work problematizes the split between the body and the voice, about impersonation and identity. About originals and copies, about who lies, about being an impostor. The characters become echoes of themselves," Miranda concludes.
