A montage that explores concepts such as plant intelligence, vegetative soul and plant communication, tracing the possibilities and conceptions of the relationship between human beings and plants.

In Vegetable State there is not a single story or a single version. What there is is a multiplicity of voices performed by Marcela Salinas in this praised one-woman show directed by Manuela Infante. These voices explore the idea that plants have other ways of thinking, feeling and communicating.

The text, written jointly by Infante and Salinas, addresses in form and substance the topic of plant existence, based on plant philosophers such as Michael Marder and plant neurobiologists such as Stefano Mancuso. His thinking proposes that plants have another way of being intelligent, another form of consciousness and another notion of time.

Plant State has been presented in Santiago, Valparaíso, Spain, Switzerland, Korea and Singapore. During 2017 it was chosen as the best work of the year by the Art Critics Circle. Manuela Infante also wins the award for best theater director.
