The show Três Irmãos gives continuity to the investigations by Cia. Cerne on the great Brazilian personalities who passed through the city São João de Meriti, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro.

On this occasion, the company focuses on the passage of Jorge Amado, one of the most important writers in Brazil, who lived in the city of the company between 1946 and 1948. With an original dramaturgy created from an immersion in Seara Vermelha, the last novel written by Amado before leaving for the exile, the show tells the story of a family expelled from the lands where they worked, forcing them to undertake a journey to São Paulo, facing hunger, death, illnesses and many other hardships.

The work critically analyzes these characters, taking into account the current socioeconomic reality of Brazil, still marked by issues such as hunger, misery, political violence and religious fundamentalism.

Cia. Cerne, founded in 2013 in the city of São João de Meriti, has established itself as one of the most important theater companies in the Baixada Fluminense, a peripheral area of Rio de Janeiro. With nine works in its repertoire, its language is characterized by strong political and social debates that reflect problems of contemporary Brazil, as well as by its connection with the local territory and with literature.
