There are many ways to get to the coast

What drives us to leave our homes to visit distant places? What do we hope to get out of those periods of time we call “vacations”? What do we leave in the places we visit?

Using the example of an old community tourism project, the work intertwines memory, archive, documentary record and fiction, to weave a scenic cartography of a disputed territory that is in Mexico, but that could be in many places in the world.

After a Work in Progress in 2025, within the framework of the festival, the work will premiere at the 33rd Teatro a Mil International Festival.

About the company:

The Optional Company is a work group formed in 2010 with headquarters in Guadalajara, Mexico. He works in the scope of the expanded scene, giving rise to dynamic relationships between the subjective and the official story, using fiction as a transformative tool. The work of the optional seeks to make art, and specifically theater, become meeting spaces and sometimes artifacts that play and bet on vitality and imagination. His works have been presented in Mexico, Spain, Ecuador, the United States, Colombia, Cuba and Argentina.
