The three stepsisters

What could Juan Gabriel and Anton Chekhov have in common? Their creations share the stage in The Three Step Sisters. The new musical theater premiere of Lágrimas, Celos y Dudas is inspired by The Three Sisters, Chekhov's classic, placing it in the Spanish-American eighties kitsch imaginary of the trio of divas played by Marcela Salinas, Manuela Oyarzún and María Paz Grandjean.

Created together by the trio of actresses, this montage tells three moments in the life of Lágrimas, Jealousy and Doubts. The first during his eighties success in Chile under the military regime. The second in their exile in Russia, where they left after the country's president died in an attack. And the third, its mature present in today's Santiago.

Chekhov is explicitly inserted into the play when, seeking to survive in Russia, the divas look for work as actresses and are chosen to star. The three sisters. And Juan Gabriel sounds in their voices, as do Daniela Romo, Ricardo Montaner and Abba, among others.
