One of the greatest milestones of the national theater returns to GAM in a version specially designed for 18 Chico: a concert with the most remembered songs from the play so that the audience sings to the tune of "Do you want flowers, miss?"

Do you want flowers, miss, do you want flowers, sir? This line is famous, because this is how The Pergola of Flowers begins, one of the greatest successes of Chilean theater in the country and abroad.

The National Performing Arts Award winner Héctor Noguera, who was part of the original cast of the play in 1960, brought to the stage the original text by playwright Isidora Aguirre and original music by Francisco Flores del Campo at GAM, in 2019. Today he returns with a special version in the style of the 60s, with the performance of his songs with the emblematic characters.

In the late 1920s, the San Francisco pergola is in danger. The urban plans mean that the pergola and its workers must leave to make way for cars. The pergoleras, along with students, workers, journalists and artists, oppose the measure that is defended by Laura Larraín, the mayor and the elite. And of course in the middle of that conflict is Carmela, played by Francisca Walker.

It is a country where new social movements, new political trends, the empowerment of a thriving middle class and feminism emerge. This is a work by women, the protagonists and antagonists are women. That is something that one discovers now, because the time illuminates the work, and the work also illuminates the time.”
