TE MANA HAKAÂRA: the power that remains

Through physical theater and dance, TE MANA HAKAÂRA: The power that remains, puts the Rapanui woman at the center as a witness, body, voice and expressive capital to make visible the memory and ancestral tradition of her people, recognizing her value as a predominant political and social figure throughout its history, which for decades has been displaced.

A performative choir made up of 6 Rapanui women will challenge their own history in a timeless order through a choral interweaving that integrates and crosses physical theater with elements of Rapanui rituality and ancestral songs (Ríu).

This project was the result of a residency with the women's community in Rapa Nui that took place in 2023, ending with a work in progress, exhibited in two functions, for the educational community and another for the entire community of the Island.
