Posthumous

A teenager commits suicide as a form of political protest. His father lies in his bed and, following his last instructions, lets time pass: two years in which the house is taken over by the plants, the insects and the different tiny, almost invisible life forms that swarm around him.

From Argentina, the text invites us to reflect on the way society lives today, "the self-exploitation to which we submit, the lack of perspective that blocks our views on the present and our projections on the future," says its playwright and director, Ignacio Tamagno, who wrote the text during the last stage of Covid-19.

In that sense, Posthumous is related to renunciation, proposing it as an alternative: the renunciation not of life, but of certain ways of living, of living in a violent world or society. Also to "the arrogance of the human being as supremacy, understanding that the world is much more than the convention that we have invented about it," he says.

Following the line of research opened by the Argentine director in previous creations, the montage works on the idea of ​​a work-installation. In this sense, the work works with more than 50 plants on stage, which surround the actor like another living being, in a climate of post-human dreaminess. This installation has the design of the renowned artist Catalina Devia and is made thanks to the support of The Plant Store.

Finally, the work invites us to renounce certain ways of living, imagine new futures, new interconnections and new listenings.
