Pompeii

There is tension in the center of Santiago. The streets are disputed by Chilean and Colombian transvestites, defining territories between fights and blades. A couple of meters above that, in a small apartment, an old transvestite raises a prayer to the Virgin of Pompeii. He prays for Kena, a protégé of his who has disappeared, to return. While her friend Leila tries to avenge her, certain that the foreigners killed her, but Lucho tries to stop her to avoid the tragedy. And Beyoncé, who just wants to be a woman, prefers to believe that Kena went the other way with a client. 

The idea of ​​justice by their own hands makes bloodshed inevitable in the montage, but an unexpected outcome arises that confronts them with their deepest fears and prejudices.

Pompeya is a work that, from the world of the sex trade, talks about marginalization, migrants and discrimination. The work is based on testimonies and documentary material.

"Transvestite is an excuse to talk about a Chile that treats its people as immigrants in their own land. We ourselves are excluded," says director Rodrigo Soto.

The production is performed by Rodrigo Pérez, Guilherme Sepúlveda, Gastón Salgado and the winner of Best Actor from the Critics' Circle for this role, Gabriel Urzúa.
