“Paloma Ausente is a street work for the masses.” This is how the latest work of the La Patogallina theater collective is defined, a proposal that immerses itself in all the dimensions of Violeta Parra, rescuing her spirit and legacy through the multiple social roles she developed throughout her life. The compiler, the mother, the singer, the guitarist and the visual artist, are some of the multiple facets that appear to represent one of the most extraordinary creators in Chile.
Physical theater, manipulation of objects and dolls, construction of poetic images and the fundamental presence of live music, shape the popular and street language with which La Patogallina wanted to pay tribute to the great national singer-songwriter. Far from floklorism and traditional theater, Paloma Ausente proposes a non-realistic theatrical language, which immerses itself in what they have called “rural surrealism.”
