Black humor and blood in a work about death, theater and death in the theater. Production by the Australian post company that brings two actresses and a citizen cast of 25 people on stage.
Imagine all the ways to die. If you are short on ideas, the burst of blood from Oedipus Schmoedipus (which in Spanish would be something like Oedipus Schmedipo) could help you. Because this work covers the representation of death in theater, showing a range of ways of dying and ideas about our mortality captured in the classics. And it does it with dark humor, a lot of blood and a lot of quotes.
The production mentions texts by almost 30 classic playwrights, including William Shakespeare, August Strindberg, Anton Chekhov, Samuel Beckett and Arthur Miller. Although many quotes go unnoticed or are indistinguishable, such as “kill me,” which is said alluding to texts by all the playwrights just mentioned. That's part of the humor of this production by the Australian company post.
The play is directed and performed by Zoë Coombs Marr and Mish Grigor, who wrote it with Natalie Rose. The performance is carried out by Zoe, Mish and a cast of 25 volunteers selected by open call at GAM. The costumes for the play have the support of the UC Theater.
