Under the direction of Ramón Gutiérrez and performed by a chorus of national artists, this theatrical musical follows eight people who meet in a support group to face their addiction to screens and the internet. Through a cappella singing and an innovative choral structure, the work explores loneliness, faith and the search for connection in the virtual age.

After having staged several musicals, with large audiences, the Darshan Teatro company is betting on an a cappella work: Octeto, by the American Dave Malloy, winner of a Tony.

The work, already premiered at the Las Condes Cultural Corporation under the direction of Ramón Gutiérrez, places us in an intense session of a support group where eight people face their addiction to screens and the internet. Through their stories and testimonies, the public is immersed in the ups and downs of the digital world: a universe saturated with stimuli, pain, loneliness and emptiness, but also full of opportunities to reconnect, look each other in the eyes and recover the sense of community.

The a cappella musical journey combines solo paintings with choral hymns of enormous beauty, harmonic and rhythmic richness. The drama, depth and emotionality of this contingent theme, at the same time shakes us with unprecedented music, crossed by the humor and beauty that have made his work a benchmark of contemporary musical theater.

"Octet is exactly what we look for in a musical: a masterful way to introduce the public to the brutal and moving tragic dimension of our own time, always through the veil of beauty, subtlety and humor. The staging is both a ritual ceremony and a meeting between friends; it is both a therapy session and an amazing spectacle; it is both an artistic jewel and a balm for the spirit," says the director, Ramón Gutiérrez.

Thus, this montage is a powerful and deeply human experience: an invitation to stop, listen to each other and remember that, even in the midst of digital noise, there is always the possibility of generating change, starting again and being better together.

"It is necessary to reflect today on our relationship with technology, screens and the internet, because it has eclipsed the relationship we have with ourselves and with others. We have tried to satisfy the need to communicate but we have reached the point of only transferring information and saturating ourselves with it, without even being able to digest it. One of its characters closes his testimony saying: “Technology slipped out of our hands and we were not ready. "We are not programmed to deal with all this," concludes Gutiérrez.
