National Call for Residencies Located

The Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, GAM, works to provide diverse and inclusive programming, promoting participation, creativity and critical thinking in the process of encounter between people and culture. During 2024 GAM has developed the project Situated Residences, with the support of Iberescena in its line of Help for Creation in Residences, which seeks to enhance the encounter between art and society, innovating in methodologies and establishing new forms, by proposing a more direct approach between people and the creation processes of artists.

To date, GAM has invited 3 prominent Latin American artists to participate: Marco Canale with his projectThe Speed ​​of Light that works in conjunction with older people; Tiziano Cruz with Soliloquio in relation to indigenous communities and Marina Guzzo with the Mixtura project that, from an ecofeminist perspective, generates a dialogue between plants, women and dissidents.

This call aims to find a fourth project that is part of Residencias Situadas, this time focusing on working with children in the age range between 7 and 10 years old. We seek for childhoods to be part of a creative process, beyond the final result and that they can then share the experience in an opening of the process open to the public.

The residency will take place during the month of November 2024 and the specific work with the community will be on Saturday mornings (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), according to the following schedule:

1. First meeting Saturday, November 2
2. Second meeting Saturday, November 9
3. Third meeting Saturday, November 16
4. Fourth meeting Saturday, November 23
5. Opening of process Saturday, November 30

What are the requirements?

• Artists or groups that operate from the national territory.
• Artists or groups that have demonstrable experience in working with children.
• Proposals that seek to experiment and create devices together with childhoods, beyond the logic of the citizen cast.
• Proposals that come from various artistic languages ​​are accepted.
• The aim is for the project to become an experience of artistic or performative creation with the children.
