Based on the case of a child who suddenly stops speaking, this work uses and mixes different stage languages to explore the concepts of silence, noise and the word. Estudio Pecera brings this work that seeks to approach silence and understand the difficulty we have as human beings in living with this phenomenon.
While a multitude of voices pass through the bodies of the performers, each with their concerns and anxieties surrounding this event, the audience will be enveloped in the same way, to the point of being faced with a deafening noise and, finally, absolute silence.
Through this sound and visual design, MUTE seeks to reflect on how we relate in a world in which the saturation of information in the media seems to leave no room for silence.
"The project proposes a challenge in multimedia and sound work. Many people come to the work thinking that no one is going to say anything during the hour and twenty that it lasts, but the truth is that it is a work with a lot of text, but that we believe is installed in a coherent way," say the creators.
Silence and its role in today's hyperconnected world is what drives the reflection of the montage. "We believe that we are generating the opportunity to ask ourselves about new dynamics of listening and to try to generate new approaches from which to think about the aforementioned phenomena."
ESTUDIO PECERA is a performing arts platform founded in 2023 by the director, playwright and actor Melchor Pino with the aim of generating an interdisciplinary space in which to unite his work and the possibility of collaborating with other artists, their practices and territories.
