Sail on the high seas, see giant waves, dive underwater and meet the most famous whale in literature. All of this allows Mocha Dick, a work based on the graphic novel of the same name by Francisco Ortega and Gonzalo Martínez, which in turn tells the Chilean story that inspired the classic Moby Dick.
In this creation by the company La Mona Ilustre, a group of whalers embarks on the hunt for a white sperm whale, while a young Mapuche tries to save it. A marine adventure that speaks of greed, betrayal and survival is embodied thanks to the theater of objects, music and songs.
“This story fundamentally tells us about our fears; about what we don't know, about what is strange, about what is different,” says Miguel Bregante, who directs the production, co-produced by the company La Mona Ilustre and the Teatro UC.
