Miss Julia

A cast of renowned Chilean actors brought to the stage this European classic about power and tension between classes. Naturalist tragedy, written in 1888 by the Swede August Strindberg, Miss Julia tells the story of a count's daughter who one night, in the absence of her father, decides to celebrate the feast of Saint John with her servants. The excitement of popular dancing, alcohol consumption and a recent breakup push her to explore a world outside her class, strange but at the same time fascinating; so much so, that it ends with her seducing one of her father's lackey. A social, sexual and psychological conflict of disturbing violence is then unleashed. 

Miss Julia shows a protagonist unable to explain the motive for her actions, who fights in complete solitude against the ambivalent desires that act within her. Strindberg dramatized his own contradictions, assuming that these do not have to be resolved in the outcome. 

This new production by Cristián Plana -with Amparo Noguera, Marcelo Alonso and Roxana Naranjo- was presented in a room with a maximum capacity of fifty spectators.
