He wears a two-piece suit and wears queen heels. He goes with his goldfish and his aspirations. Lucía is celebrating her birthday and dreams that the interview she attends will allow her to once again feel the power of her influence and the magnitude of the interest she believes she deserves. But his office is no longer what it was and neither is the Diego Portales building. To make matters worse, the journalist from the international media does not appear. There is only one guard who disconcerts her even more with his presence.

Lucía, written by Ximena Carrera, shows the loneliness, old age and delirium of a woman who had unlimited power for 17 years and from then on dialogue with the archetype of the dictator's wife, which has historical examples such as Stalin's Nadia and Mussolini's Clara, along with great literary references such as Lady Macbeth.

"One of the aspects that I was interested in addressing in the play is the dichotomy between the official discourse of the time about the role of women as 'woman of the house', 'mother of the family', 'support of the man of the house' promoted through CEMA Chile, and on the other hand, what clearly seemed to be that unlimited thirst and ambition for political representation and the exercise of control and total power of a country," says the playwright.

Carmina Riego stars in the production by the La Trompeta Theater Company in which Gonzalo Pizarro also performs. "The work is presented in a tone of black comedy, since it is a kind of parody of the image of Lucía, a woman so deeply rooted in the national collective imagination. Humor is conceived as an element that puts a distance between the ferocity of the character and her pathos since she is now old and alone," explains director Sebastián Vila.
