From France comes Finir en beauté, the acclaimed work of Mohamed El Khatib, which was the revelation of the latest edition of the Avignon Festival, one of the most important contemporary performing arts events in Europe and the world.
The work is defined by its author as “a documentary fiction in two movements: a performance and a book”, which collects the experiences surrounding the death of his mother. To do so, she uses various textual, typographic and plastic materials, administrative documents, photographs and a soundtrack that includes her voice speaking in Arabic, the voice of the doctor who fails to announce her death and religious songs.
This theatrical experience, which reflects on mourning, is based on the work of introspection and compilation of real elements carried out by its author, Mohamed El Khatib, and whose purpose is to share with the public a topic as private and universal as mourning.
The work arrives thanks to the Santiago Off Festival and will be its last presentation in Chile. It will be on July 1 at Matucana 100, on the 2nd at the El Bosque House of Culture, on the 4th and 5th at the San Sebastián University and on the 8th at the Puerto Montt Cultural Corporation.
