The Theater Workshop ends with the open performance of a biographical production built with the testimonies of fifteen women, directed by Pierre Sauré.
A bus that turns into a little angel, a woman who goes to the beach to celebrate her 60th birthday and a lot of ladies drinking tea while talking about deafness and Viagra are some of the scenes that close a new edition of the Theater Workshop, organized by the GAM Mediation unit where the Senior Citizens Club participates.
Fifteen women have worked for four months guided by the playwright and director Pierre Sauré, assisted by the actresses Daniela Riveros and Carolina Cheuquepán. What is it to be an older adult? How are we going to change the world? What is the scenario I want? These are some of the questions that have guided her work. Memory, politics and identity are the axes through which they have reviewed their lives, their geographical itineraries, dreams and future. Their testimonies are the material from which the texts of the work that they will present at the closing of the workshop are born, as an instance of inclusion of the elderly through art.
"We have taken visual and formal references from the Argentineans Vivi Tellas and Lola Arias, to work purely on the biographical with nuances of theater and dance montage, with the possibilities given to us by people who are not actors. We are making a biodrama, a biographical theater or political-documentary theater," says Pierre.
Ten of the women who make up the cast participated in Witness, a work born from a similar workshop. Released in 2012, this montage gave them an experience that this time allowed them to speed up the process. “They have already done 21 performances ofWitness, so now we go straight to writing, reading, improvising, exercising, watching works, videos, images, visual references, singing, dancing and acting,” says Sauré.
