Rodrigo Pérez takes the monologue of the wife of a missing person, so that four actors tell her claim without embodying her. A premiere that focuses on the word and its sound, to enhance the poetry of the text.
A woman stands in front of the public to demand that her missing partner be returned to her and complain to them for their indolence in the face of injustice. That is what Diatriba de la empcinada proposes, a work that Juan Radrigán wrote in 2004. And that is what is said in this premiere by Rodrigo Pérez, but not what is seen on stage.
DIATRIBA, “the disappeared one” by Juan Radrigán, is a work that narrates the original text, even with the author's instructions. Thus the line “A woman enters – Victoria – Observes the audience for a moment” is not performed, but said, and not just once. In this creation, the original monologue is in the mouths of Catalina Saavedra, Marcela Millie, Guillermo Ugalde and Marco Rebolledo, who tell the text instead of embodying it. They say it and go back and repeat it and even sing it accompanied by instruments. It is a musical narrative, with particular care in its rhythms and sounds, which thus seeks to penetrate and enhance the poetic meaning of the text.
Rodrigo Pérez has worked on this text by Radrigán twice, creating two different works. The first was in 2009 in Diatriba de la Victoria, a work that also included a speech by Allende and a poem by Roberto Aceituno.
