Democracy is the second work with which the Brazilian Felipe Hirsch came to show why he has been praised and awarded as the most brilliant theatrical innovator in his country.
Felipe Hirsch, one of the most awarded directors of the Brazilian theater scene, presents Democracia, a work specially prepared for the 2018 edition of Santiago a Mil, in the context of the 25 years of the event.
Based on the contradictions and complexities of democracy today, the production aims to explore the intimate, social and political implications that this system has had on Chilean society.
Inspired by texts by Alejandro Zambra, the montage delves into various topics such as education, the traces of the dictatorship, the democratic transition, inequality, ethics and even the family. Playful, biting and critical, this game is nothing more than the critical journey of a generation that carries the dreams, fears and frustrations of today's Chile. Recognized for his works that unite literature, music and theater, Felipe Hirsch returns to Santiago a Mil to present Democracia, a co-production of the São Paulo International Theater Festival, Teatro a Mil Foundation and the Finis Terrae University Theater.
