Closed due to absence

The death of Juan Radrigán in October of last year inevitably transformed Clausurado por Absent into a tribute to its author, as it was his first premiere after his departure.

Three characters hope to inaugurate a memorial for missing detainees, where the remains of those who have been found and identified are gathered. But the wait is lengthening. The postponements are repeated. Until when? Do they live the same thing over and over again? Are they crazy? Are they dead?

In the play Radrigán shoots everyone. Against the authorities who have not taken charge of the issue. Against citizen indifference. Against the victims who “resisted harassment and torture, but did not resist freedom, and were destroyed by showcases, nostalgia and partisan divisions.” And he adds: “Let's not look for blame: we could find ourselves.”

"For me, the staging of a text by Juan requires that one as a director withdraw a little. The accent is on the performances and the text. And if there is one thing I wanted to highlight in the text, it is the playfulness. There are moments of hilarious humor, brilliant derangement, debauchery and then a fall into absolute desolation," says Francisco Krebs, director of the production.

Written 10 years ago, the work draws parallels with Germany to highlight the way in which they took charge of their memory while we did not. The staging places the characters in a sinking memorial, among sounds that refer to official government communication.
