The first GAM theatrical premiere and production of 2011 returns. A successful musical tragicomedy written by Juan Radrigán, returns with Mariana Muñoz, to tell a story of love, heartbreak and marginality alongside María Izquierdo, Luis Dubó, Claudia Cabezas and Francisco Ossa, among others.
This tragicomic musical was selected at the National Dramaturgy Exhibition and premiered in September 2011 at GAM, when barely ten days had passed since Juan Radrigán (Las brutas) received the National Award for Performing Arts. It was chosen as one of the best productions of 2011 by the Chilean Art Critics Circle. It was an immediate success with the public and critics, an album was recorded with the soundtrack, a book with the text was published and it had presentations in different places in Chile and abroad.
Eight characters are placed in a cantina without time or place. Drinking and singing, they try to pass their sorrows to the sound of boleros, tangos, rancheras, cumbias and cuecas that talk about love, abandonment, betrayal, pain and marginality. Until a stranger comes to tension the atmosphere.
"It is called to transcend because it has a lot to do with painful loves that are deeply rooted in popular culture. It is a very Chilean little pearl," María Izquierdo said in its first season, about the play that has become a true theatrical milestone of recent times with more than 30 thousand spectators and presentations in Miami (United States), Cádiz (Spain) and different cities in our country.
Each of the experiences that the characters tell creates the context of the main story, showing us what each person can lose in order to obtain happiness. In this way, universal themes circulate in the dramaturgy that have the capacity to place the spectator in a reflective role about the national contingency.
Passion, humor and music are mixed as fundamental elements with which the production faces which, maintaining the depth of its content in each of its functions, generates a festive instance and a real encounter with the spectators.
