Teatro La Peste opens a call in Chile and abroad to be part of a work that will address the Popular Unity process, a GAM co-production.
The 4S assembly will bring together older people who lived through the period led by Salvador Allende and young people who have the recent Chilean social outbreak as a reference for political transformation.
Between this June 29 and next July 11, the call to be part of "4S" will be open and is basically aimed at two segments. On the one hand, women and men over 65 years of age; on the other hand, children and adolescents who are attending school between 1st and 4th grade, with no previous experience in performing arts being necessary in either case.
Those who are interested in being part of this initiative should write to the email 4slapeste@gmail.com, indicating name, age, city of residence and contact information, with the aim of receiving from La Peste the information on the necessary requirements to advance in the participation process.
About the staging
Danilo Llanos, director of 4S, explains that the idea of this staging arose in the context of the 50 years of the so-called UP and preceded by a collaborative work of La Peste with a group of Chilean-German researchers belonging to the La Internacional de Allende project.
4S is a co-production of the Theater Research Center La Peste, the Valparaíso Cultural Park (PCdV, Ex Cárcel) and the Gabriela Mistral GAM Cultural Center, collaborative work that is developed to “strengthen the creation of national companies and groups,” as has been highlighted. In that sense, it is important to emphasize that this is the first time that GAM is linked in a creative process with an entity from a region other than the Metropolitan.
The participants
The objective is for an intergenerational dialogue to bring together - whether through their testimonies, in the staging itself or in other tasks of the creation process - older people who lived through the so-called UP and young people who have the recent Chilean social outbreak as a reference for political transformation. "That generational dispute is what we want to put on stage. One that, in my opinion, is also on the street. That journey is what we are interested in putting into tension at this turning point in which we find ourselves as a country," explains Llanos.
