A tram called Desire

Blanche DuBois arrives loaded with old pens and stories from her aristocratic past to the house of her sister Stella, a little girl who lives with Stanley Kowalski, a guy as rough and rude as he is attractive and sexual. He does not hide his simplicity nor can he hide the tension that arises just by looking at her, a tension that will grow as he pushes Blanche to madness. That is the story of A tram called deseo, by Tennessee Williams, a 20th century classic that Alfredo Castro directed in 2014 and that now returns as part of the GAM 10 Years Series. 

Desire, sexuality, denial and madness are some of the great themes raised by the 1947 Pulitzer-winning work. The version and adaptation made by Alfredo Castro, Roberto Contador and Simón Rivera focuses on the four main characters: Blanche (Amparo Noguera), Stanley (Marcelo Alonso), Stella (Paloma Moreno) and Harold (Marcial Tagle). Removing secondary roles, cleaning up temporal and spatial references, Castro puts together the work with quotes from different periods and theatrical styles.
