Young Talents

There are multiple emotions that the 10 selected projects of the contest will evoke, from a conceptual turn to the story of The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery, through an approach to the reality that transgender children experience in a documentary, to a choreography that involves various artistic techniques on the problems of the Chilean educational system. These are some of the exhibitions that can be seen.

The Young Talents Award, organized by Balmaceda Arte Joven together with the Mustakis Foundation, seeks to promote and develop talents at a national level through an annual competition that gives young people the opportunity to finance and complete their projects. Since 1999, this contest has awarded more than 70 projects, involving 400 young artists in a process that includes mentoring with prominent artists and a final exhibition plus the touring of their proposals at a regional level. Likewise, in the seven versions, 4,000 young people have applied.

Innovative, creative and interdisciplinary works were the premise with which the meticulous eye of the jury selected ten of the 70 projects presented. The evaluation committee was made up of: George Anastassiou, president of the Mustakis Foundation; Felipe Mella, executive director of Balmaceda Arte Joven; Javier Ibacache, director of programming and audiences at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM); Norton Maza, Visual Artist; Lorena Hurtado, choreographer and professor at the University of Chile; Daniela Silva, culture journalist at El Mercurio; and Marcela Parra, musician, visual artist and poet.

The exhibition is composed of dance, theater, music, audiovisual, body improvisation, poetry and acrobatics, which will allow the audience to travel to different sensory and imaginative fields. It will undoubtedly be an enriching event for both the public and the artists.
