Within the framework of the XXV edition of the World Music Festival, Mundovivo, Teatro a Mil will have a night dedicated to the music of South India with Transcendent Tala, a band based in Canada, led by Curtis Andrews -percussionist, ethnomusicologist and professor at the University of Vancouver-, along with prominent musicians from India Shruti Ramani and Kalyan Raman, as well as the Canadian Jared Burrows.

Then, Juan Pablo Cofré "Morete”, Chilean guitarist and composer, will present a concert of high-flying flamenco music, along with Francisco Delgado, Lydia Marti, Felipe Candia and Cathy Sandoval.


About the band:

Transcendent Talas, masterfully combines the talas (rhythm) and ragas (melody) of India with touches of jazz, with an ensemble of virtuoso instrumentalists and vocalists from India and Canada. Performing original compositions, Vedic mantras and arrangements from Indian classical repertoire, the ensemble takes the listener on a journey of ecstasy and contemplation.
