The band presents "Puerto Amores", a theatrical concert that mixes Chilean musical heritage and its own compositions to tell a captivating love story. With musicians and actors on stage, the story travels between Creole foxtrot, swing, boleros, cueca and Buenos Aires waltzes from an ancient Chile.

What happens when jazz meets the Buenos Aires waltz, the bolero and the Chilean picardy? The answer is Puerto Amores, the acclaimed theatrical concert by the group La Memoria Guachaca that comes to GAM to celebrate International Jazz Day.

It's not just a concert, and it's not just a play. It is an immersive experience where music tells stories of loves that wait on the dock and promises that are lost at sea.

The presentation transports us to a remote port, a forgotten point on the map where the horizon is the only certainty. There, between fishing nets and promises that lengthen, a Creole vaudeville unfolds: a comedy of errors where love, desire and waiting collide on the same pier.

We are not facing a conventional concert, but rather a narrative device where music is the driving force. The story is simple but powerful: a woman who waits, a sailor who promises, a wise man who remains silent and a stranger who arrives to unleash the conflict.

The director and playwright Rodrigo Cabello Zárate defines the proposal as Criollo Jazz. Here, the genre born in New Orleans is "achilated" and mixed with the DNA of our bohemia. "The main influence of this project is Roberto Parra, both in his musical imagination and in his way of crossing music, story, humor and popular tragedy. Along with him, the legacy of Lalo Parra and the tradition of the Buenos Aires song and Chilean guachaca are fundamental. We also dialogue with the Latin American bolero, the River Plate tango and the Chilean waltz, always from a scenic and narrative perspective," he says.

The compositions speak of love, waiting, doubt, memory, desire and life in ports. They are songs that are born from specific characters and dramatic situations: a woman who waits, a sailor who leaves and returns, a stranger who breaks in and a port that observes and keeps secrets. The themes address human emotions from a mixture of humor, tenderness and melancholy, typical of the Chilean popular imagination.

The La Memoria Guachaca project understands the popular song as a "living archive." For this reason, the staging of Puerto Amores is committed to warmth and closeness. The audience doesn't just watch; He becomes an accomplice in an atmosphere where one sings to avoid crying and laughs to resist.

"It is not a setlist of songs, but rather a continuous story where musicians, actors and singers interpret characters and situations that unfold throughout the performance. Puerto Amores proposes an organic crossover between music and theater, where the story is sung and the scene is set to music, generating an emotional, popular and accessible experience," Cabello concludes.
