With five concerts in June the IMUC begins its 2015 season at GAM.
The concerts begin with a string cycle on June 2 and a program dedicated to Camile Saint-Säens. The group, made up of Doris Silva (Soprano), David Nuñez (Violin), Penelope Knuth (Viola), Martin Osten (Cello), Camilo Brandi (Organo) and Mario Alarcon (Piano), will perform Violins in the Night (Violons dans le soir), The Oratorio Le deluge Op.45, Havanaise Op.83, The Swan from The Carnival of the Animals, Serenade Op.27 and the Quartet N.1 Posthumous Op. in E Major.
On June 9, the program will be dedicated to Dimitri Shostakovich in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of his death. The Academic Quartet (Frida Ansaldi and Gonzalo Beltrán, violins; Oriana Silva viola and Alejandro Tagle, cello) will perform the Quartet Op. 73 No. 3 and together with the pianist Liza Chung, the Piano Quintet Op. 57.
On June 16, a commemorative concert will be held to mark the 330th anniversary of the birth ofJ.S. Bachand G.F. Handel. By G. F. Handel the Sonata Op. 1, No. Ib in E Minor and the Trio Sonata Op. 5, No. IV in G Major will be performed. By J. S. Bach they will play Ciaccona from Partita No. 2 Bwv 1004 in D Minor and Sonata No.1, Bwv 1027 in G Major. Members of the IMUC Strings and Singing Chairs will participate: Molly Flanagan (soprano), Diego Arellano (tenor), along with string players Patricio Velásquez, Paula Rosales, Felipe Muñoz, Israel Gutiérrez, Miguel Millanao and David Carrasco, as well as Camilo Brandi on Clavecín and Florencia Bardavid on Viola da Gamba.
The 15 string players of the UC Student Orchestra, directed by Gonzalo Beltrán, will perform on June 23 a program on the 'Classics for String Orchestra': Divertimento in B Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Viola Concerto in the style of J. C. Bach by Henri Casadesus (soloist Oriana Silva) and the String Symphony No. 8 in D Major by Felix Mendelssohn.
The presentations will end on June 30 with soprano Doris Silva, along with violinist Gonzalo Beltrán, cellist Sebastián Mercado and pianist Pablo Terraza, with a program dedicated to Russian music of the 20th century. There will be a performance of Divertimento from The Fairy's Kiss (Le baiser de la fée) by Igor Stravinsky and the premiere in Chile of the suite Seven Romances on Poems by Alexander Blok Op.127 Dmitri Shostakovich.
